If you’ve been sleeping on Iman Alysha, it’s time to wake up.
Kind, gracious and sweet, that was my first impression when we first talked. Fondly known as Imanopie, the Malaysian social media star, is best known for her charismatic social media presence on Instagram and TikTok.
Iman rose to fame after becoming well-known for her dance videos in 2019 and now has 378K followers on Instagram and 709.3K followers on TikTok. With her fans increasing locally and internationally each day, she continues to thrill her fans with killer OOTD looks and engaging contents on her social media.
We catch up with 20-year-old Iman who is currently on a semester break from pursuing her degree in the United Kingdom (UK). So, here's what you need to know about Iman Alysha during her studies at Durham University, UK:
Studying Business and Management
Ever since high school, Iman was determined to further her studies in business and right after she completed her SPM, she did just that and went to Sunway College. After completing the Canadian International Matriculation Program (CIMP) there, she then followed in her family's footsteps to study in the UK.
“I always knew it was gonna be business and management or marketing, so it was always that. Also, since I was small, my parents always told me to go to the UK because my dad and brother studied there so it was something like oh yeah, it’s about time to study in the UK. ”
Felt Homesick and Scared
When you’re in a whole different country, making friends and missing home will always be the no 1 problem when you study abroad. Just like Iman, she is no stranger to this and in fact, shares the same experience while doing her first year at one of the UK's most prestigious universities.
“At first, I was scared because making friends hasn’t always been that easy for me and I was homesick for about two weeks to a month. But after that I was fine. Actually, I met good people that I am now friends with. I was enjoying myself during the first month.”
Waiting For Her 2nd Year Of Degree
“Just finished my 1st year of degree so in September I will be continuing my 2nd.”
I still remember watching her ‘Leaving for the country’ vlog on YouTube, where she expressed her sadness leaving everyone behind and how she couldn’t stop crying after she visited her grandmother’s house, and in a blink of an eye, she’s about to pursue her 2nd year this September. 🙌
Can’t believe it has been 11 months since Iman flew to the UK to pursue her degree. Time flew so fast.
Loves Watching Sunsets
“From university? I like watching the sunset with my friends, so we would always go out on this hill and have a picnic and just watch the sunset till night time.”
Situated in the North East of the UK, Durham has always been known for its picturesque scenery and rich heritage. Imagine, reminiscing memories while watching the sunset, with scenic view and the bustling city sound surrounding you, wow no wonder Iman loves watching sunsets at Durham University!
Still Figuring Out
Have you ever been in a situation when people ask what you want to do with your career and you're still figuring out? Yeah? Me too. But don't worry, it's totally okay if you haven't figured it out yet.
Like Iman, when asked about her future career, she mentioned that she’s still figuring it out and has not decided yet. She said, “As for now, I just want to finish university (laugh) but for future ambition, I’m not super sure yet, I feel like I’m still figuring that out – that’s what I’m tryna do in university but yeah for now I’m just trying to finish university.”
